This is my first post. How friggin' exciting. I just had a long discussion with the twenty something women in my office. Their claim was that in times of "war", racial profiling was needed to ensure security. I was discusted but unable to open their minds to the wrong headed ignorace of their argument.
I tried to explain that after evry occasion of systemic racial profiling during "crisis" or national outcry, as the case may be, the society as whole has had to appologize and realized that the profiling did not add to security and only aided in the enemies claims that our system of governemtn was an abomination to the natural order.

You tell 'em, Mr. B! That poor guy in the London subway was dark -- and probably wondered what the hell was happening. Good luck on your blog!

oh dave, you should know better than to try to reason with lowly office workers - we're all idiots, that's why we can only be trusted to type stuff.

And sometimes not even that... (directed at no one in particular since I don't talk about work on my blog.)

Good luck on the blog, DJB!

hear, hear, mr. bebout. kudos to your attempt to open eyes of the mindless sheep which inhabit your office. although your wise words were delivered upon deaf ears, i trust that they will soon be remembered once they park their multiple magnetic ribbon adorned minivan at the carpark at the local airport for their caribbean vacation in the not-so distant future. they are then "randomly selected," pulled aside, questioned, forced to disrobe and be prodded with only the modesty that a two-fold curtained screen with one end exposed to the main concourse can provide. your pink-bits and baggage must be searched and molested for the sake of safety and security. women have more anatomical crevasses with which to hide grenade shaped devices meant for destruction and terror. ludicrous? yes, but no more so than the notion of detaining any swarthy skinned man of muslim descent in a military compound outside of the contiguous US where rules of the geneva convention do not apply since they are not held captive on american soil, nor were they ever charged with any crime.

why just last week, i, your meager teacup-poodle puppy friend was racially, er, breed-specifically profiled at a security checkpoint. granted, i was not carrying a bomb, incendiery device, or anything for that matter--they could see that i was indeed a young puppy and lacked the opposable thumbs. i was, however, coerced into involuntary service as a bomb-sniffing dog. apparently, king and buster--a german shepherd and collie/lab mix respectively--had called off that day's work to participate on a 3-day rawhide bender. so, being short staffed, the militarized checkpoint conscripted, nay shanghai'd, any dog belonging to any sporting group to serve. now you may ask, why do they ask me, a poodle puppy with a heart of gold, and classified with the AKC as well as Crufts as non-sporting? the answer is simply thus: our proud and noble line was initially bred as water retrievers. and the silly haircut imagined with a poodle is actually quite sporting-functional. the coat is clipped short in most areas to promote streamlinededness while swimming and our paws are webbed like all other retrievers. the silly seeming tufts are to keep our watersoaked joints warm. as our working-class breed became chic with the aristocracy, then followed our shi-shi reputation as the canine of choice for a high society lapdogs. so that explains my selection into the military. upon being questioned whether my diminutive height is an issue, they just say that i "can get under low stuff." touche, mister soldier. touche.

if i refuse, i am labeled a traitor, and beaten upon the nose with a rolled up ad-circular and not allowed out of the baby-gated tile-floored kitchen. and if i agree, i may be blown to bits by a bomb that was intended for someone else to fulfill yet another's agenda. i am forced to comply through gritted teeth and crossed paws.

i am currently AWOL at an undisclosed location, and am currently unable to maintain my now infamous page i hope to return soon and relieve my feeble-minded brother Pommes Frites' over-taxed brain of his duties.
